SPICA - EFI conversion - first start.

Got a little tuning and a vacuum leak to chase down but not bad for a car that would not start with SPICA...

This is the motor that starred in the first three episodes of the SPICA/EFI conversion. No tuning other than setting up the initial timing and a bit of tweaking...
'69 Alfa 1750 GTV with Jenvey heritage EFI - Dyno run.

1750 with euro cams, headers, stainless exhaust and EFI. Otherwise stock. Pulled a calculated 133 HP at the flywheel. This car flies! A carburated 2L liter can't keep up. We dialed in the drivability - performs like an Alfa, behaves like a Honda!

The ECU rev limited at 5,000 rpm. Pulled 100 hp at the wheels - respectable for a brand new motor with 20 miles on the rebuild. We're not there to break it before we break it in. We were able to dial in the drivability. It's bone stock except that the problematic SPICA pump was replaced with modern EFI. Absolutely flat curve up to redline - easily the most balanced, well behaved Nord motor (exc...

I have questions, can I piggyback off You
Loved the details and the EFI with modern tuning will be fun to tune, I love the mechanical SPECA system but its time has gone, I will be doing the same with my 73 2000 GTV.
I have a 1974 Giulia. When I bought the bearing kit from Classic Alfa, there was no mention at all about a shrink ring or a spacer. The kit consists of bearing, oil seal and tab washer. Do you know which year they started using this crazy shrink ring idea?
New plug wires may be in order, also- check out that arcing.
nice setup
I am glad she runs. She sat for a long time .
I'm an Alfa guy with a well running Spica car. What's the primary motivation here? Was your old Spica shot and spares are rare and $$$ or on this build were you faced with the cost of doing a DCOE installation vs the costs of the Jenvey system. What do you think expected HP will be-comparable to Spica or does this approach offer you more tuning latitude? Thanks for the series-I find it very very interesting
Motor looks familiar. Lol. Glad it is coming along.
What engine is this
Alfa 1750 circa 1969
Dexterity is a must! Otherwise stick to video games. Really nice job so far, has me rethinking the dual Solex setup on my 73 Berlina
When will this product be available?
So much work! But, I'm over $20k into my S3 since 2014, so it's only worth it to the guy who wants the car to live. I have no regrets :)
A few more seconds and it would've sucked that towel into the intake
So much better at night. I have white Speedhut gauges for my Berlina but wish I had the Alfa logo option
Nice job! First starts are always very interesting moments 😁
Approximate cost for this conversation?
Rebuilt My 1750 Years ago Worked well enough. BUT time marches on and a Silly Honda CIVC D16 (let alone a B18) is an entire different level of power and performance. And the trans is FAR better than Any Alfa trans ever sold !. Just saying
My nephew had one of these. The water pump sat off to the side of the engine & ran off a belt. The fuel pump was directly above the muffler. It was really cool, just very slow.
Awesome 🎉
A lot of work there and never to be seen!
Very cool!
Sounds like an Alfa. Webers and all.
It goes forward, turns, and stops.... Any supporting info and stats? Cool car.
It goes, turns and stops... Oh wait, you already knew that😅. We're actually planning on going to the dyno next week so we'll have more info to share then.
@@gprocket looking forward to seeing your results
why else is the 75.1.6 such a slow machine? and those dellorttos don't work well in that either
Fast wie ein 8 Zyl.
👍
That’s my engine.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
One hell of a project car. Very cool!
great music!
Jesus that head is wide
Just saw the attempted startup
Such a clean engine bay and good looking engine 🔥
Bialbero Lampredi, very nice!
This is alfa bialbero , not the lampredi bialbero from fiat
@@288gto7 Bialbero Lampredi is only one italian engineer... all projects.
@@leonardobrunorende5363 bialbero means twin cam in italian my dude, its not somebodys name. Aurelio lampredi made the fiat twin cam , Giuseppe Busso made the alfa twin cam/"bialbero"
Looking forward to getting my 67 Stepnose running very soon.
Even my 2015 car is 5km lower than GPS Thanks. BB Rich
Like the other guy said, recalibrate.
it's commonly known bigger wheels will increase your speed. You always need to recalibrate your speedo anytime you change wheels
Bigger wheels don’t matter, it’s the tire diameter that matters
@@officialelonmuskyoutubecha4905 same thing. I'm obviously not talking about width bro
@@officialelonmuskyoutubecha4905 woosh
Your diff needs adjustment...
❤
Sounds great!
Looks clean!
Where did you find the buttons?
Surprising diversity on a 105 theme, each and every one so well executed. Am considering replacement rims/tires for an ATE caliper equipped '68 Duetto: any suggestions (from all watching) on what will fit without fender modifications (other than slight rolling)? Looking at 15x7 Alfaholic rims with 195 55 15 tires: anyone had these fitted and what was the result? Thanks.
Nice red ♥️
4/10, no dyno results
Not everything has to be about numbers.
@@guerillagorilla4423 Except when you pass a car on the dyno.....
My favorite color also, nice work!
Why so high? I thought those oil pumps have a bypass for the excess pressure?
Hi, what did you use for the crank position sensor?
Front mounted MVR with a pulley mounted trigger wheel - all from Omex.
I'm working on something comparable. Bosch D-Jetronic intake manifold with custom adapters to Berg DCOE pattern injector bodies, modern four-nozzle injectors, MegaSquirt ECU, port work, cams, etc. You are much further along than I am. Congrats. May I ask which pattern number of Jemison's cams did you select?
